Powerware Enclosure Power Distribution Unit

Two trends are emerging for data centre devices. They are growing smaller, yet requiring high-density power. On the other hand, lower-density equipment demands higher power. The new Powerware Enclosure Power Distribution Units – ePDUs – provide the solution for both needs.

Superior power quality depends on efficient power distribution. With today’s small-size devices, a single rack of equipment might produce 40 or more power cords to manage. Powerware ePDUs complement your UPS systems, distributing power in high-density rack environments—or anywhere conditioned power must be distributed to multiple pieces of equipment. From a single power input, you can manage and distribute power to multiple outlets.

Wide choice of models

The Powerware ePDU family includes models with a variety of power inputs and outputs to fit most power requirements. You can select from UK, Schuko, French and IEC (C13 & C19) type output receptacles and local (UK or Schuko), EN 60309 or unterminated cords for termination directly to the output terminals of the UPS.

Separate circuit breakers for outlet groups

Powerware ePDUs offer individual branch rated circuit breakers to protect load segments, in other words, outlet groups. This increases overall availability by ensuring that an overloaded circuit does not affect other load segments. Circuit breakers have flat rockers or are fully shrouded to prevent accidental on/off operation.

Quick and easy installation

With pre-installed mounting brackets, the unit is immediately ready to install in the rack without additional mounting hardware or accessories. Optional recessed mounting is available to accommodate large input connectors.

Rugged design for reliable performance

Powerware ePDUs meet applicable industry standards for IT equipment safety. An optional cable retention bracket prevents power cords from being accidentally disconnected. With visual indication of available incoming power and tripped circuits, you never have to guess the unit’s operational state.

Standard two-year warranty

Powerware ePDUs are covered by a two-year limited factory warranty from Eaton, the company Frost & Sullivan has repeatedly named “Power Quality Company of the Year”.

This simple product provides a simple and cost effective way of saving electricity by cutting power to ancilliary equipment such as PC monitors, desk lamps and other accessories.

The infra red presence detector, is designed to be mounted under a desk in the knee hole space and sense if a person is present. After a preset time of absence (adjustable from 1-30 minutes), power to all non essential equipment is cut, leaving power to PC’s etc remaining constant (red outlets).

Immediately upon return all power is restored.

BPS2 is available in many configurations or as a “lump in the line” to retrofit to existing installations.

This device is a must for all multi screen applications. Patented electronics are incorporated to prevent tripping breakers when large numbers of monitors are energised upon activation of PIR or after a power down. Without this, the capacitors in LCD power supplies will mimic a short circuit. Speak to us for more details.
