We at Burland are very disappointed to have to announce the “end of life” decision taken by Eaton for the DB2000 range of power distribution units.

We are unable to place new orders for DB2000 product after the 30th April 2012. We have put in large stock orders so that we can continue to supply for as long as possible.

The DB2000 system was originally designed by Gordon Hutchison who joined the family firm Aphel Limited after spending years in electronics design at GE. The system evolved (with some input from me!) over the years and is without doubt the most adaptable, robust and well considered product of its kind in the world.

Negotiations are in place which could result in a Burland revival of DB2000. Realistically, this will involve several months of negotiations. We will keep all our customers updated with progress.

This news from Eaton is not entirely unexpected. The 30-120% price increases imposed last year were the “writing on the wall” for us. As a result, we have been working with two of our most loyal and effective supply chain partners for our data centre power systems, to offer power products for the office market.

We look forward to continuing to be of service, and assure you that our “replacement” products are all of the highest quality and manufactured in high quality environments in the UK.
If you have any questions regarding the information in this letter, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the undersigned.

Best wishes.
