December Newsletter

Season’s Greetings to all our clients wherever you are in the world!

2018 Has been a very busy and often challenging year at Burland. The integration of the Electropatent business, including the relocation of all production to Port Talbot in Wales, took longer and was more painful than expected. I am pleased to report however that we have been through the pain and now production, lead times and costs are more stable.

We have had a few staff changes. We have beefed up our admin and support team in Suffolk with Natasha joining Marco and Ashley who have joined since our last [overdue] newsletter. Stephen Birley also moved up to Suffolk from Electropatent and now takes responsibility for all engineering issues within the business.

All this growth has put us under huge pressure space wise, not just for staff but for our ever increasing stock profile. Fortunately, we have been able to acquire the unit immediately next door. As soon as we have carried out some remedial work, we will have meeting facilities back, as well as a training and an experience centre which will be available for all our clients to hold meetings, either with their clients or even act as a regional meeting point for clients with national or regional sales forces or engineers. We hope to organise a number of events during the year moving forward.

Now that the integration of Electropatent with Burland Technology is complete, we have to harmonise certain policies regarding deliveries. From January 2019, please note that all orders will be subject to the following:-
1) UK Carriage to be charged on all orders at flat rate £25 next day service, £40 before 12 noon and £50 before 10 am
2) Special services such as same day or fixed time deliveries must be quoted on a per order basis once goods are in warehouse and packed.
3) Export carriage will be quoted on a per order basis once goods are in warehouse and packed
4) Some Electropatent customers have been taking settlement discounts. These will no longer be honoured. Please inform your accounts department.

We are all still subject to uncertainty with Brexit taking place. We anticipate currency fluctuations but have no idea which way! If there are impacts on prices we will have to let you know when the landscape becomes clearer.

So far the only definite price increase we have to pass on is for all Wieland components. From January 1st, all Wieland prices will increase by 5%. Whilst this is painful, it is the first increase that we have passed on in several years.

Thank you for your custom in 2018. We hope to serve you more and to an ever higher standard in 2019.

Best wishes.
Richard Vass and all at Burland Technology Solutions.
